Local Ladies' Garden Club, Summer Meeting (2020)

My ladies' garden club has only met once this summer due to the Coronavirus pandemic.  We were invited to tour a local private garden.

The homeowners purchased an old farm years ago which they have lovingly restored. The house was beyond repair so they built a new one.  The outbuildings were preserved, embellished with antiques and a magnificent garden has been planted.

The original well house is on top of an underground spring and it still provides their drinking water.

The stream flows out one side to form a creek.  Inside the water bubbles up to fill a cistern full of cool clear water.

Every direction we looked we saw something interesting. The amount of work and love that went into creating this home is awe-inspiring. I am ready for this pandemic to be over so we can meet again and have more fun!

  1. Thank you for the tour! There is so much to see, I bet you could go back and see stuff you did not see this time.

  3. What a beautiful place! Doesn't it make you want to put your chair or blanket under a tree and spend the day there! It looks so peaceful....like every worry would be taken away with an afternoon outside. Love the fairy garden...pure magic! I'll be the little gnome that lies down in the grass! Well, maybe I don't have the beard but you know what I mean! heehee! Love this post!

    1. We did stay all day even though the tour was supposed to only last an hour. We couldn't leave either. I noticed that little gnome that was laying down in the grass too.

  4. After having seen all these beautiful pictures, my first thought was that the lady who owns this
huge garden must spend endlos hours doing garden work. Otherwise she could not maintain all these
lovely places with so many different plants and flowers. I hope, there is someone to help her. It is amazing to see so many different flowers at this time of the year. This lady must have great experience. It is nice that you had such a pleasant day.

    1. She said her husband helped her with the bigger chores and building projects but it seemed the garden was all hers. She loved working outside and even had more ideas for additional things she wanted to do. She had so much energy. More than I do!

  5. Beautiful garden! I love how they have the Koi fish/goldfish in their pond. It made me think of the contrast between that beautiful pond and the backyard fish pond at my nephew Jake's house. They have a hot tub in the back yard that is broken, and has been for years, but there's always water in it. Some time back, one of the older kids threw their goldfish in there (more than one). So, for years, there has been a "fish pond" in the broken hot tub. Last I heard, there were 30 babies and a frog in there along with all the big ones from over the years.

It's nice that you had at least the one meeting. It must be fun to see other people's gardens.

    1. I have heard goldfish could survive in a toilet because they are so resilient! I guess that might be true. They don't care if they are in a fancy pond or hot tub, it is all the same to them.
I am looking forward to more meetings whenever this pandemic FINALLY over.
