"BUCKY! BUCKY!" I yelled as loud as I could. "I see you eating my flowers!"
"Huh?" Mumbled a startled Bucky. "Did someone call my name?"
"Oh, it's you, the lady who lives in the house." Bucky replied.
"Does your Mom know you have sneaked over the fence and are eating my flowers? She is busy with your newborn little brother Rudolph and has not been able to keep an eye on you or your twin brother. I realize you have gown a wonderful new 7 point rack since I caught you in my vegetable garden back in June and you want to show it off, but you should obey your Mom. Do I need to call her and tell her how you been acting?" I threatened.
"Uh, oh." He paused and thought for a moment then said, "If you don't say anything, I promise to behave."
I nodded and watched as he effortlessly leaped over my fence.
"Shhhh." Whispered Bucky to his brother. "The lady from the house is looking at us. Don't tell Mom what I said."
"Don't tell me what?" Asked Mama Doe
"Oh, nothing." Said Bucky. "Nothing at all."
That is a beautiful buck and I enjoyed the way you wrote the post.
ReplyDeleteWe see Bucky and his family often in the field and I wonder what they are thinking. I would say I hear their voices in my head but I might be committed to an insane asylum.
DeleteOh my gosh....they are so beautiful and so destructive! You got some really wonderful pictures of them. It looks like Bucky has a scar on his hind quarter....boys will be boys.....
ReplyDeleteWe noticed that scar also and wondered what happened. We figured he probably tried jumping a barbed wire fence that was too high, or maybe he got in a fight, or was hit by a car, or...you are right. Boys will be boys.
DeleteI think I shall blame my black thumb and shoddy landscaping on the deer. We don't have any but I'm blaming them anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteBut you know how to work an electric drill, saw, hammer, screwdriver, and even a PAINT BRUSH! We have been following Lavergne's (the camper) facelift and now Bill has started shopping for campers online. Just looking....
DeleteWhat a handsome boy! (And great photos!)
