"I see something strange outside my kitchen door (something other than Mom snapping a picture of me through the glass)," said Scooter.
Pack Leader is tossing my dog food over the deck.
He also keeps muttering things like, "so pitiful, so hungry."
I'm not pitiful and am certainly not hungry. There are more bags of dog food in the pantry than I can count. Mom keeps trying to find a brand I will like. Stinky old dog food - I hate all of them.
Hopefully, a scrawny, starving kitten hasn't trespassed into my kingdom.
Pack Leader better not be throwing my food over the deck to a scared kitten. They grow up to become cats! That would be unforgivable!
Meow, meow, meow. Hello. I am "Meow."

I'm loving the new blog look! That's a pretty kitty. Reading your About Me reminded me of the years I lived in LA. When I'd come back to NC, and when my friend picked me up, I'd sigh "take me to the green". Kindred spirits, we are.
ReplyDeleteI was raised in Nashville and still return when I am visiting Mom at the assisted living facility. The crowds and traffic suffocate me which is strange because I grew up there. When I get out of the car and hear the silence, I can feel myself relaxing.
DeleteThe uncontrolled population growth of cats can be a problem. When they are hungry they quickly
ReplyDeleteget used to places where they find some food.
I guess Scooter would not be elated having this cat as a new household member.
Christel
It is extremely common for cats to show up on our property, then disappear. Coyotes live in our area and they keep many small animal populations under control (Wish they would eat more armadillos). The cat is welcome to hunt field mice but I don't think she is old enough yet to be a good hunter. She/he will never be allowed in the house or on the front porch. No sleeping on the cushions in my swing since I am allergic! As long as she obeys that rule, she can stay.
DeleteMy puppy is just starting to be picky about his kibble, so I can relate. Sometimes mixing in a little shredded cheese or carrots or beans or freeze-dried meat helps; other times not so much. Time to figure out what adult food to transition to. Scooter is a cutie!
ReplyDeleteScooter has figured out that trick. He picks through his dog food and drops the bites he doesn't like on the floor. Then we have to pick up the mess and put it back in his bowl. Eventually he will eat it because we won't give him anymore until those few bites are gone. I'm not worried about him. His tummy is getting pudgy so he is getting enough food...but not enough exercise. It has been too hot to go outside and run. Soon, hopefully, that will change.
DeleteI used to have picky dogs, too...then the rest from then has ate any and everything put before them. Scooter has the sweetest face.
ReplyDeleteNice dogs nice photos
ReplyDeleteha ha, you have captured your dog's thoughts perfectly! Hope friends can be made with "Meow"
ReplyDeleteI am not holding my breath that Scooter and Meow will become friends. Meow slipped up the steps on the back deck, we didn't see her but Scooter did. He flew out the door and together they tumbled down the steps. We now check twice before opening the door. Meow has learned to meow when she sees us on the deck and we will meow back and toss her food until she is full. She already has us trained.
DeleteAww, Poor kitty. I used to have a cat who looked just like that and still miss her. At least Meow has you trained now so she'll be safe.
ReplyDeleteIs your drought in Oregon? We are very dry here too and I am barely keeping a few things alive but they don't look as good as yours. You can't keep everything alive and still afford to pay the water bill.
I hear you on the poison ivy too. I have some near plum bushes that I need to work on. I heard a tip the other day. A neighbor uses a syringe, like for diabetes, without the needle and pulls the poison ivy killer into it. Then he cuts the vine and pushes out a drop or two of poison on the fresh cut. No drips from paint brush accidentally getting on anything else. I'm going to try it when it cools down again.
I am in southern middle Tennessee. It seems whenever there is an active hurricane season, we have a drought. The hurricanes push the rain away from us, at least that is my guess. First it was Dorian east of us, now it is Imelda west of us slamming poor Texas (2+ feet of rain). There is nothing in the forecast for us for the next three weeks.
DeleteI like the suggestion for poison ivy - it sounds easier than a paint brush and no spills either. I suit up in rubber gloves, pull out the ivy, use the brush killer, then run for the shower.
It is obvious that you are kind. And, the cat recognizes that, too!
ReplyDeleteToday she got a treat (ham fat) and didn't know what to do. She walked around it suspiciously, finally licked it, took a nibble, then wolfed it down. She still looks scrawny even with us feeding her.
