Scooter Visits Nana

I'm glad you came to see me.
Nana and I, Scooter, were guests of honor at her new assisted living apartment far, far away.  She was being honored because she has referred new people to the center.  She has lots of friends, has told them how great the place is and some have moved there.  I was being honored because I am her best grandson.  Dustin and Mom tagged along because I needed a chauffeur.

The foot of Nana's bed - where I belong.
There were a few difficult situations which I mastered like a pro.  In the living room was a huge, ferocious, miniature Shih Tzu guarding his master. When JoJo saw me, he dashed over barking and challenged me to a duel.

Yap! Yap! Yap!
I stood my ground behind Dustin's legs and waited while the Administrator rushed over to arrest JoJo.  He was in trouble for his bad manners and was sentenced to jail in the back office.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr.
Next came the terrifying, mysterious hole-in-the-wall box.  It suddenly appeared in the hall, Dustin stepped inside and said to follow.  I did not cooperate.  Between the metal thresholds on the floor was a bottomless pit to the netherworld so I jumped over it to avoid falling through.

The door began to close without anyone touching it trapping us inside and then the floor began falling.  It was terrifying!  Dustin held onto me because he was scared the monster had eaten us.

When the door opened, the hall had changed because we were teleported to another place!!  It was black magic!

The world looks different.
It was a relief when we finally found Nana.  She shared all the fun she has been having with her new friends.  She has joined an art class and is learning many new skills.  First, she showed us this hanging paper thingy she made which is supposed to do something.

Everyone else made clay bowls but she thinks hers shrunk into an ashtray.  Not wanting to hurt her feelings, I said it coordinates nicely with her blouse.

Her favorite creation was the little airplane.  After all the artists in the class finished, there was a flying competition.  Nana's flew the farthest and of course, she won.  (She received a fancy paper certificate with her name but Mom forgot to take a picture.)

Mom and Dustin encouraged her artistic expressions.  She now has more art skills than anyone else in our family tree.

?????
Then it was time to escort Nana to the celebration ceremony.  I led her down the red carpet and cheered her on.  Mom behaved like the paparazzi snapping pictures.

The room smelled fantastic!  Nana was the guest of honor.  Dinner was Salsbury steak, mashed potatoes, peas, rolls, fruit salad, and banana pudding!  Dustin ate everyone's banana pudding.  He can do things like that and still stay slim.

Poor me! I was shoved under the table in the dark and left all alone (something was whispered about health code rules.)  It was so dark and cold the camera wouldn't focus.  Mom wouldn't let anyone feed me! She said it was a long trip home and she wasn't going to wear dog vomit all the way back.  Mean old Mom.  At least she did give me a treat when I made it home safely.

Sniff, sniff, sniff.
It was unseasonably warm outside so we walked Nana out to the porch so she could get some fresh air, watch the sunset and relax from all the celebrations.  She paid no attention to any of that but spent the whole time enjoying me.

You and Beau are my favorite grandsons.
Everyone else who passed by was impressed to see me (how could they not be?) It was an awesome evening and fun being the center of attention.  Who needs steak when you are the guest of honor?

I'm ready for another road-trip.
